GRADE 1

Where has the time gone! We are now at the end of week 6.

A few reminders,

The Integrated Assessment, Show and Tell - where the students are to interview a parent or grandparent. This is due this coming Tuesday 13th March after lunch time.

Grade 1 students have enjoyed developing the gross motor skills through our PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). We have been practising hopping, jumping and balancing during these sessions.

In Maths, we have been learning about days of the week, months and seasons of the year. We have also been working on reading calendars and exploring how they work. This would be something I would suggest you follow up with your child. Students have also been practising how to read o’clock and half past on analogue clocks, which needs some more work.

In the last few weeks, we have incorporated Reading Groups into two of our English classes. During this time students:

In the last newsletter, I stated we were writing Descriptions for our genre focus. I would suggest that maybe you have your child describe a picture either orally or in writing, encouraging them to use adjectives such as colours, shapes and size to describe what they are looking at i.e. The Possum has large, black round eye. It also has long, thin whiskers.

I still encourage you to discuss events that have happened in your home over the weekend so that your child has something to write about during our journal writing session on Monday morning.
